Siberian Cat
This big cat has lived in a natural state in Russia for a long time.
It may be from crosses between domestic cats brought to Siberia and Ukraine and local wild cats.
Its thick and insulating fur was all the more developed as the climate was harsh.
Mussa, a red and white tabby cat and the Tima male, bought in St. Petersburg, arrived in Berlin in 1987.
Hans and Betti Schulz raised the first Siberians in their cattery, Newskij. In 1990, about fifteen specimens were listed in Western Europe.
It was recognized by FIFe in 1997.E. In 1990, Terrell brought the first representatives of the breed in his Start-point cattery in the United States. The TICA which recognized the Siberian, published a standard in 1998.
Siberian Cat Characteristics:
Fur mid-long to long, bushy, oily, impervious, effectively protecting it from the cold.
Stiff jar hairs. Long hairs on the belly, slightly shorter on the shoulders and part of the chest. Long and supplied collar.
Thick undercoats.All traditional colors and color combinations are accepted except chocolate and lilac. Colour-point subjects are called Neva-Masquerade.
head :Medium in size, wide, triangular, with rounded contours.The top of the flat head. Front slightly curved.
Cheeks not pronounced and not prominent. Rounded muzzle, moderately long. Nose wide between the eyes, narrowing towards its end, showing a slight curvature. Chin round. Long and strong mustaches.
Siberian behavior:
This cat gives off a quiet strength. With great vitality, he can be very active.
Despite his strong personality, his strong character, the Siberian is very sociable with his peers.
Player, he gets on well with children. Hug, he is very attached to his master.
His voice is sweet. Rustic, talented climber, loving water, he is a very good jumper.
He needs space for his psychic balance and the beauty of his fur,requires an outdoor life.
Its complete development is only completed at the age of five.
Its maintenance is easy because the fur does not fel. Weekly brushing is sufficient in ordinary times.
When moulting spring, which is important, daily brushing is necessary.
